Located by the Huangpu River and just next to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Shanghai International Convention Center is easily accessible from all parts of the city with modern means of transportation.
The Convention Center is a new landmark in the city, integrating modern architectural design with the spirit of traditional Chinese architecture. Equipped with first-class facilities for holding conferences, the Convention Center has hosted numerous major world-level political, economic and cultural events, among them are: '99 Fortune Global Forum, 2001 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, 35th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank in 2002, IBM-EBU Conference in 2003, 24th IAPH World Ports Conference in 2005…
The Convention Center has 30 function rooms of different sizes, ranging from the 3,000-seat Grand Ballroom to small rooms suitable for a few dozen people. All the conference rooms are equipped with latest audio-visual facilities.
The Oriental Riverside Hotel affiliated to the Convention Center is a five-star hotel with 260 rooms. The globe-shaped building has several restaurants and bars that offer different styles of food and refreshments, and all have spectacular riverside views. Not far from the Convention Center, there are a number of other hotels (ranging from motels to five-star ones) where the congress participants may stay. The Super Brand Mall just opposite the Center with more than 50 art shops, tea houses and restaurants serves as an ideal place for noon break.
